The South-west leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Tuesday warned against what it called ‘fabricated plot’ against Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state.
Addressing a press conference at the party’s zonal headquarters, Adagunodo House, Ibadan, through the party’s zonal secretary, Chief Sanya Atofarati, the party frowned at attempts to inflame political tension in Nigeria for personal gains.
The party said Governor Makinde has shown “stability, focus and an unwavering commitment to delivering democratic dividends, as well as playing a significant role in sustaining and strengthening multi-party democracy in Nigeria.”
The SW PDP zonal secretary dispelled the speculation surrounding an alleged impeachment plan against Governor Makinde and insisted that no such process exists.
He also stated that the allegation form part of “a calculated attempt to generate unnecessary political tension.”
While urging Nigerians not to lose faith in democratic institutions despite the present difficulties, Chief Atofarati pointed out that PDP “remains resolute in its commitment to people-focused governance, stability, and national progress, and stands firmly with citizens confronting hardship and uncertainty.”
