More than 250 formidable strong stakeholders on Sunday, 19 April, 2026, met at the residence of Chief Gabriel Chukwuma, President of Gabros Group at Uru, Umudim-Nnewi in Nnewi North Council, to chat a way forward for the industrial town.
The meeting, thegazellenews.com learnt, was said to have been occasioned by the alleged shoddy manner the primary for the seat of the Mayor of the Nnewi North Council was conducted by the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Thegazellenews.com recalled that in the Nnewi rotational arrangement, it was the turn of Nnewichi axis to produce the next Mayor. But sadly certain individuals allegedly used their close relationship with Gov Charles Soludo to thwart the near concrete scheme of the people. This irredentist group then chose to return Eche Anazodo, from Umudim-Nnewi, a different axis.
All the speakers at the meeting commended the Convener of the meeting, Chief Chukwuma for blazing the trail for the industrial town.
They all in unison condemned the levity with which the paramount traditional ruler of Nnewi, HRH Igwe KON Orizu 111 who specifically wrote a letter to Gov Soludo over the zoning principle in the industrial town was treated.
The gathering which was drawn from the four quarters of Nnewi observed that those troubling the industrial town are less than one percent of the totality of the good people of the town.
The Convener of the meeting, Chief Chukwuma while reading the general agreement of the participants, said that the meeting was not intended to identify problems but to find lasting solution to the identified issues.
He also pointed out that Nnewi people must come together to rescue the hitherto peaceful community from the hands of less than one percent who have constituted themselves into a group of cabals upturning the solid foundation laid for the peace, progress and stability of Nnewi.
The President of Gabros Group noted that the Movement is not out to challenge any individual but to challenge the illegalities perpetrated by persons involved, said the primary focus is to set Nnewi on the path of progress again.
