The Arewa Youth Assembly has cautioned opposition politicians against politicising the security challenges facing Nigeria, especially in the build-up to 2027 general elections.

The group through its Speaker, Mohammed Salihu Danlami at a press conference in Abuja on Friday, said there appeared to a semblance of a pattern of surge in insecurity at every election cycle, which “can no longer be ignored.”

They argued that “Pattern analysis of the last three election cycles shows the same signature: a sharp spike in kidnappings, banditry, and coordinated arson.”

While however, admitting the security challenges facing the country, it said the nation’s security services have been up and doing to address the challenges.

“At this critical time, we must recognise and commend the unwavering commitment of the NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and the service chiefs most especially, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, and the Chief of Army Staff, General Waidi Shaibu.

“Their leadership, courage, and sacrifice have continued to inspire confidence within the armed forces and among Nigerians,” Danlami said, urging collective efforts to address the challenges.
