The Supreme Court has reserved judgment on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) appeal seeking to overturn a Court of Appeal ruling that nullified the party’s national convention held last November in Ibadan.
A five-member panel of the apex court announced Wednesday that judgment would be delivered on a date to be communicated to all parties.
Justice Garba Mohammed, leading the panel, made the announcement after lawyers adopted their briefs for and against the appeal.
The Turaki faction of the PDP challenged the Court of Appeal’s decision, which voided the convention for defying a valid court order.
Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, last year restrained the then Ambassador Iliya Damagum-led National Executive Committee from holding the convention on November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Justice Lifu ordered that aspirant Sule Lamido, former Jigawa State Governor, be allowed to purchase interest and nomination forms to participate in electing national officers.
The PDP proceeded anyway, claiming Justice Lifu lacked jurisdiction over its internal affairs.
The appellate court disagreed last month, ruling it was not purely internal, and nullified the convention outcomes.
Dissatisfied, the PDP asked the Supreme Court to uphold the appeal, set aside the judgments, and affirm no jurisdiction.
Respondents urged dismissal for lack of merit.
