President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has removed the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, in a minor reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Yomi Odunuga, who cited an official memo signed by the SGF, George Akume.
According to the memo, the President has appointed Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, while Dr. Muttaqha Darma emerged as Minister-designate for Housing and Urban Development.
The outgoing ministers have been directed to conclude their handover processes on or before April 23, 2026.
Akume said the reshuffle was aimed at strengthening coordination and enhancing service delivery in critical sectors of the economy in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He stated, “The changes are to ensure greater cohesion and synergy in governance, as well as more impactful economic delivery to Nigerians.”
The SGF added that the President’s action was in accordance with Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria.
Tinubu also commended the outgoing ministers for their contributions to national service and wished them success in their future endeavours.
