The Senate Wednesday received request from President Bola Tinubu for screening and confirmation of Dr Muttaka Rabe Darma as new Minister of Housing and Urban Development, to replace Ahmed Dangiwa, who was relieved of his appointment on Tuesday.
Tinubu’s request as contained in a letter addressed to the President of the Senate , Godswill Akpabio , was read during plenary.
After reading the letter, Akpabio subsequently referred it to the Committee of the Whole for consideration.
In his remarks, Akpabio assured that the Senate was prepared to carry out an expeditious confirmation process once the nominee was cleared by security agencies.
President Tinubu in another appointment confirmation seeking letter written to the Senate , sought for confirmation of Lamido Abubakar Yuguda as Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The request was referred to the Senate Committee on Banking , Insurance and other Financial Institutions with one week as time line for submission of report .
