Troops of the 22 Brigade, Sector 1 of Operation Safe South-South (OPSS), have successfully raided suspected terrorist hideouts in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, destroying makeshift camps and recovering arms.
The operation was conducted on April 24, 2026, with troops advancing from Kamenji at about 6am.
They targeted hideouts in Tungan Mariga, Nuku village, and Woro village, where they dismantled several makeshift camps believed to be used by suspected terrorists.
During the raid, the troops recovered six Dane guns. An armoured personnel carrier mounted with a QJC weapon system was also deployed to support the operation.
Military authorities stated that clearance operations will continue in the area to ensure sustained security.
The development is part of ongoing efforts to rid Kwara State of criminal elements operating in remote forest and village areas.
