Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralized Improvised Explosive Device, IED, threats and repelled terrorists in Borno State.

This is said to be in line with the ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the state.

A counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, made this disclosure in a post on X.

Makama stated that at about 10:06 a.m. on April 15, 2026, troops of Headquarters 24 Task Force Brigade, while on picketing duties along the Dikwa–Maiduguri main supply route, discovered an IED at Bale Junction in Dikwa Local Government Area.

He further revealed that the device was successfully detonated in a controlled manner by the troops without causing any damage.

According to him, in a related development, at about 10:00 a.m. on the same day, an Explosive Ordnance Disposal, EOD, team of 82 Division Task Force Battalion deployed at Ngoshe community discovered another IED while scanning the Ngoshe–Pulka road in Gwoza Local Government Area.

The device, he said, was safely disposed of in situ. The security expert noted that at about 11:00 a.m., troops on patrol in the area sighted an unconfirmed number of suspected terrorists descending from the Mandara Mountains.

“The troops engaged the insurgents, forcing them to abandon their mission and retreat into surrounding terrain.

“Operations are ongoing to sustain pressure on the fleeing terrorists and ensure the safety of residents across the affected areas,” he said
