In reaction to the president’s remarks, Atiku Abubakar, through a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, described the comments as troubling.
The statement emphasised that leadership attention should remain focused on addressing the rising insecurity and safeguarding the lives of citizens .... rather than making political declarations at such a critical time.
Atiku further stressed that the prevailing national situation requires urgent and sustained attention to the security crisis affecting different parts of the country.
He noted that governance responsibilities demand prioritising the protection of lives and property, especially as many communities continue to experience violent incidents, displacement, and general instability.
He added that the ongoing loss of lives and widespread destruction of communities represent a serious concern that reflects on governance performance.
According to him, the scale of insecurity places a heavy responsibility on leadership structures to ensure that effective measures are implemented to prevent further deterioration of the security situation across affected areas.
The former vice president further stated that the present administration would ultimately be assessed based on the continuous loss of innocent lives being recorded across the country on a daily basis.
He maintained that such developments remain central to how governance outcomes and national stability are evaluated by the public.
