Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has condemned the xenophobic attacks in South Africa and called for collective sanctions against the country by African countries.
The monarch, in a statement by his spokesperson, Alli Ibrahim, described South Africa as a shame to Africa.
He specifically urged President Bola Tinubu to impose heavy sanctions on the Republic, including recalling their respective Ambassadors to South Africa.
Oluwo noted that any attack on Nigerians or any black man is a collective attack on Africa and should be repelled with heavy sanctions.
The monarch added that the fatal attack on Nigerians and their businesses in South Africa has caused international embarrassment to Africa as a continent.
He urged President Tinubu to launch reprisal policies by recalling the Nigeria Ambasssador to South Africa and calling the South African Ambassador to Nigeria for explanation.
Oba Akanbi charged Africans, most especially Nigerians, to stage a peaceful protest in front of the South African Embassy in their respective country as a form of solidarity in condemnation of the illicit attacks on Africans by Africans.
The statement further read, “South Africa has brought international embarrassment to itself by attacking Nigerians and their businesses. Africans are free to stay anywhere on African soil. There is no justification to attack any African on African soil.
“Africans must come together at this material time to stop the madness in South Africa by imposing heavy sanctions. To stop the recurring attacks and attempted expropriation in South Africa, a lasting solution should be considered through collective efforts of the African countries.
“All African countries should hold an emergency dialogue and invite the South Africa leadership for explanation. An ultimatum of a few hours may be issued to end the xenophobic attacks.
“All African countries could consider recalling of their respective Ambassador to South Africa a dn stage a powerful protest against xenophobic attacks at the South Africa Embaasy in their respective country.
“The open manifestation of hatred for the fellow black man called for urgent action. South Africa citizens are not bigger than all the Africans. A decisive measure should be taken. Nigeria, as the giant of Africa, should take the lead.
“The attacks on your co-black race who fought against apartheid imposed by white men is an act of ingratitude. Why not fight the white men who sabotaged the nation through apatherd?”
