The Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) in Ebonyi has declared support for Gov. Francis Nwifuru’s second-term bid, ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

The Chairman of the association, Mr Friday Nwovu, announced this during the group’s solidarity visit to the governor at the New Government House, Centenary City, Abakaliki.

Nwovu commended the governor for his “quality leadership and inclusiveness in governance, especially towards persons with disabilities in the state”.

He said that members of the association had resolved to support his re-election and would mobilise support for him across the state.

“We have formed a political pressure group for peace, good governance and the interest of the disability community in the state.

“We will actively participate in campaigns for the governor’s re-election in 2027,” Nwovu said.

According to him, the association has officially adopted Nwifuru for a second term and is ready to campaign for him whenever called upon.

He said that over 50,000 persons with disabilities in the state possessed Permanent Voter Cards and were prepared to vote for the governor in the election.

Receiving the Group on behalf of the governor, his Chief of Staff, Mr Emmanuel Echiegu, thanked the association for its solidarity and support.

“On behalf of the governor, I warmly welcome you and appreciate your show of support and solidarity.

“I will convey your message to him, and I assure you that he will not take it for granted,” Echiegu said.

He also assured the group that the governor would assent to the Executive Bill on PWDs passed by the House of Assembly last year.

Echiegu urged the association to continue to support the government in its efforts to sustain the peace and good governance in the state. (NAN)
