The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the conclusion of the sale of Expression of Interest forms for aspirants seeking to contest the office of President under its platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
However, the party extended the deadline for the collection of Expression of Interest forms for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and governorship positions from May 17 to May 24, 2026.
This was contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by Ikenna Enekweizu, the national secretary of the party.
According to the statement, screening of aspirants who have purchased and completed their forms will commence on Tuesday and run until May 26, 2026.
It added that the collection and submission of nomination forms for all cleared aspirants will begin on Wednesday and also close on May 26.
The party stated that no further extension will be granted, urging all aspirants to strictly comply with the deadlines and guidelines.
The NDC said all aspirants must appear for screening and pre-qualification interviews at designated venues nationwide with relevant documents, including educational certificates, birth certificate or declaration of age, passport photographs, voter’s identification card, party membership card, and curriculum vitae, in six copies.
It explained that screening would be guided by voter preference, local considerations, competence, and character of aspirants.
The party also noted that its affirmative action policy for women, youths, and persons with disabilities would be considered during the screening process.
It encouraged aspirants to embrace consensus-building, adding that only those cleared during screening would be eligible to purchase nomination forms.
