According to a report by Crime Check TV Ghana, the Ashaiman Police have reportedly arrested a 21-year-old woman identified as Anita for allegedly attempting to smuggle illegal drugs hidden inside food into police cells.…....
The suspect was allegedly caught after officers reportedly discovered tramadol concealed in pie and yogurt during a search.
According to the report, the food items were allegedly meant for her boyfriend, Richard Acquah, who was being held in police custody and had reportedly requested food.
Police are said to have intercepted the items during inspection before they could reach the suspect in the cells.
The report further stated that officers allegedly uncovered tramadol 250 hidden inside the pie and yogurt.
The incident has since generated reactions on Facebook, with many social media users expressing shock over the alleged attempt to sneak drugs into a police station.
Some commenters argued that the suspect allegedly worsened her own situation by trying to assist someone already facing legal trouble.
Others also questioned why anyone would allegedly attempt such an act knowing that food brought to suspects in custody is usually inspected by police officers.
A section of users further stated that the incident highlights the risks some people take out of loyalty to friends or romantic partners.
Some social media users additionally praised the Ashaiman Police for reportedly detecting the suspected drugs before they entered the cells.
