More than 80,000 toys, as well as shot glasses, were recalled this week because children could easily access and potentially swallow the small batteries inside.
Importer ABC Trading recalled more than 84,700 products, including three toys and LED shot glasses, after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission found the battery compartments did not properly secure the batteries.
The recalled toys include a pink plastic headband with white polka dots and two electronic pet cage toys sold at TOYZ and Joissu Product stores nationwide between November 2022 and October 2025 for between $5 and $9.
The recalled toy headband, with the model number 6300RP, features a small push button on its bow that activates built-in lights. However, according to the recall notice, the design allows access to the internal battery compartment. Part of the bow can be removed, exposing the battery located where the knot of the headband would normally be, raising concerns that young children could reach it.
The recall also includes two electronic toys featuring animals in cage with similarly unsafe battery access. Both have battery compartments on the bottoms of their bases that can be easily opened, according to investigators and product images.
One of the affected items is a dinosaur toy, model 8266 (ZH998-22), which contains a red dinosaur and a yellow egg inside a silver plastic cage. The second is a bird toy, model ZH-998-23, featuring a blue bird housed inside a cage with a pink top and bottom. Both designs are part of the broader recall due to the risk posed by exposed or easily accessible button cell batteries.
ABC Trading has also recalled a set of LED light-up shot glasses after regulators found their batteries were easily accessible, creating a risk that children could reach and potentially swallow the button cell batteries.
“When button cell or coin batteries are swallowed, the ingested batteries can cause serious injuries, internal chemical burns, and death,” the notice states.
The recalled shot glasses were sold individually and in packs of 24. They feature buttons on the bottom that activate built-in LED lights, but the battery compartments can be easily accessed. Each product is labeled on the base with “ITEM NO: LP-024 (122)” and “Importer: ABC Trading, Inc.”
These items were sold at Starzzone, Igiftsinc and other gift stores across the U.S. between March 2024 and October 2025, typically priced between $6 and $10.
No injuries have been reported in connection with either the toy or shot glass recalls.
Anyone who purchased the recalled toys or shot glasses is urged to stop using them immediately. ABC Trading is offering refunds, but customers must provide proof by emailing a photo of the products placed in the trash to [email protected].
