Aledeh Resigns After Redeployment by Edo State Government

Eminent journalist and broadcaster, Suleiman Aledeh, has resigned from his position following his redeployment by the Edo State Government.

Aledeh was until recently the Managing Director of the Edo State Broadcasting Service (EBS), before a reshuffle announced by the state authorities on Saturday.

The redeployment was disclosed in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, which confirmed that Governor Monday Okpebholo had approved Aledeh’s transfer to the Edo State Orientation Agency, where he was to serve as pioneer Director-General.

As part of the changes, Mr. Festus Alenkhe was also appointed Acting Managing Director of EBS to oversee operations pending the appointment of a substantive head.

The government said the decision was part of broader administrative adjustments aimed at improving efficiency, strengthening institutional capacity, and enhancing service delivery across state agencies. It also noted that Aledeh’s redeployment was a recognition of his professional experience and suitability for civic engagement and public communication responsibilities at the Orientation Agency.

However, in a reflective statement confirming his resignation, Aledeh described the moment as a “ground zero” experience in his career, noting that he had given his full effort, energy, and ideas to the system during his tenure.

He said the experience had taught him difficult lessons about leadership, loyalty, and institutional culture, adding that while the transition was challenging, it also marked a reset point rather than an end.

Aledeh emphasized that he remains committed to rebuilding and moving forward with renewed perspective, describing the development as the beginning of a new chapter in his professional journey.

The Edo State Government, in its statement, commended his contributions to public broadcasting and expressed appreciation for his service, while wishing him success in his new assignment and future endeavours.
