A Fulani man has sparked reactions online after addressing growing public perception linking Fulani herdsmen to insecurity in parts of the country.
In a video that has since circulated widely, he insisted that “real and original Fulani men” do not carry assault rifles while grazing cattle in the bush, but only basic tools used for farming and survival.
“Real Fulani Men Don’t Carry AK-47 in the Bush” – He Says
The young man dismissed the idea that Fulani herdsmen move around with firearms, saying such claims are misleading and unfair to his community.
He stressed that traditional herders only use simple tools needed for their daily activities.
“One thing that you guys have forgot, a real and original Fulani man, you will never ever see him with an A.K-4.7 inside bush. Never, a real Nigerian Fulani man, you won’t ever ever see him with an A.K-4.7 inside bush except stick and a c¥tlass,” he said.
He explained that the cutlass is mainly used for survival tasks, such as clearing bushes or protecting cattle from wild animals.
“This cutlass we are using it like we like to cut a tree or to s¥rvive with our cows because you know there’s a wild animal that can kill our cows during grazing. If we don’t have this cutlass, we cannot save our cows,” he added.
“Anyone With AK-47 Is Not a Fulani Man”
The man further insisted that anyone seen with an assault rifle in the bush should not be identified as a Fulani herdsman.
“So any person that you see with an A.K-4.7 inside bush, he is not a Fulani man. Please stop calling him a Fulani man. Just call him a terrorist. Simple,” he said.
