APC:No Ward in Abia State Can Record Up to 7,000 Votes,So How Do They Get Over 20,000 Votes-Yilwatda

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has dismissed claims of irregular vote counts during the party’s recent primaries, insisting that figures being circulated in public discourse are inconsistent with verified electoral data.…....

Speaking during an interview on Arise News on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, Yilwatda specifically questioned reports suggesting unusually high vote totals recorded in some wards, describing them as mathematically impossible when compared with official state-level figures.

According to him, the voting structure of the primaries was strictly organised at ward level, and the aggregate results across states do not support claims of inflated figures in isolated locations.

“There is no single ward in Abia State that would go up to even 7,000 votes. The total votes cast for the entire state is over 40,000. So how do you get, in one ward, over 20-something thousand?” he said.

The APC chairman argued that the party’s internal data systems are consistent and verifiable, maintaining that discrepancies often arise from misinterpretation or unverified video footage circulating on social media rather than official collation records.

His comments come amid ongoing scrutiny of the APC primaries, where President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secured the party’s presidential ticket with over 10.9 million votes, a result that has drawn both praise and criticism within political circles.

While opposition voices have questioned the transparency of the exercise, APC leadership continues to defend the process as credible, structured, and reflective of the party’s internal electoral framework.
