Police are investigating a tragic murder incident that occurred in Kampala where a disagreement over football allegiances allegedly escalated into fatal violence.

The deceased, identified as Denis, a 34-year-old boda boda rider and resident of Bakuli, is reported to have been involved in a confrontation that turned deadly at around 6:30 pm.

According to the Uganda Police Force, Denis, who was a supporter of English Premier League club Arsenal FC, reportedly got into a misunderstanding with a suspect identified only as Musiramu, an alleged supporter of Manchester United FC.

Investigators say the disagreement over football loyalties escalated into a physical altercation during which the suspect is alleged to have struck Denis on the head.

He is said to have collapsed and died instantly following the incident. Police have confirmed that efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect, who remains at large.

The body of the deceased was taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the fatal encounter.

Authorities have urged members of the public to remain calm and assist with any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect, as the case highlights the dangers of disputes escalating into violence.
