During the interview, Momodu stated, “Atiku Abubakar has not had the opportunity to steal government money.” He made the remark while defending Atiku against long-standing corruption allegations often raised by critics and political opponents.…....
Momodu explained that much of the public perception surrounding Atiku was shaped by political battles and disagreements during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. According to him, accusations alone should not be treated as proof of wrongdoing without proper legal conviction or evidence.
He further argued that Atiku’s business background predates many of his political appointments, noting that the former vice president had already built commercial interests before attaining high public office. Momodu maintained that Atiku’s supporters often point to his investments in education and private enterprise as evidence of his entrepreneurial background.
The ADC chieftain also stated that Nigerian politics is frequently influenced by propaganda, rivalry, and public narratives created during political conflicts. He suggested that political figures are sometimes judged more by perception than by verified facts, especially during election periods.
Momodu added that corruption allegations remain a major issue in Nigerian politics and continue to shape voter attitudes toward political leaders. However, he stressed that fairness and due process are essential when evaluating accusations against public officials.
He concluded by urging Nigerians to critically assess political claims and focus on facts, governance records, and leadership capacity as the country moves closer to another election cycle in 2027.
