Panic broke out at Anglican Girls Grammar School, AGGS Ijebu Ode, earlier today after an air pollution, suspected to be gas leakage caused several students to faint and others to flee the school premises.

A viral video circulating on social media showed students covering their noses and running out of classrooms in distress, while teachers and staff were seen attempting to assist those struggling to breathe.

Some students appeared to collapse as the suspected fumes spread through parts of the school.

The incident is the second of its kind in Ijebu-Ode this year, raising fresh concerns over air quality and safety standards across the area.

In the earlier occurrence, several students also fainted following a reported gas leakage, prompting emergency response and a visit by the Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, and other officials of the ministry.

Parents and residents have called for an urgent investigation and preventive measures to avoid a recurrence.

As of press time, the exact source of the leakage had not been confirmed, and officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Environment and Education were yet to release an official statement.

Emergency responders were said to have been mobilized to the school to attend to affected students.

The number of those hospitalized remained unclear at the time of filing this report.
