Politics Nigeria reports that the sad development was confirmed by Fayose himself in an emotional announcement shared publicly.
The news comes after months of reported illness that had significantly affected her health.
According to accounts shared by Fayose earlier, her condition had deteriorated severely before her death, leaving her unable to speak or perform basic daily activities.
In a heartfelt message posted online, Fayose announced her passing with a candle image and a short farewell note. He wrote: “Rest in peace my darling wife, odabo oyinbo mi”.
Before her death, he had opened up about the difficult reality he encountered while visiting his family in Australia, where she had been receiving care.
He described arriving to find that her condition had worsened to the point where she could no longer recognise or engage with him the way she once did.
He further explained that the woman who used to welcome him warmly was no longer able to do so, and he had to make his way from the airport by Uber.
He also shared how their roles had reversed, as he became her primary caregiver, attending to her daily needs, including preparing meals and staying by her side.
Fayose also reflected emotionally on her final moments, noting that he would sit with her, sing her favourite songs, and hold her hand as she responded silently through gestures of affection.
