“At the time, Trump had a negotiated agreement, I think, with a moderate faction within the regime, but they got removed in a counter-coup by the IRGC,” he explained. “And the IRGC wanted to fight on a little longer. So now they’re dealing with one of the most .... punishing blockades in naval history. It’s costing them something like four hundred million dollars a day and is risking within the next week, probably almost irreversible damage to their oil wells, because they simply don’t have a place to store all their oil.”

He went on to make his most emphatic claim of the discussion. “I’d be shocked if they could survive it for another month, let alone six,” Chamberlain said. “We have all the military capability. They have none. We’re in great shape right now.”

He dismissed concerns about the impact of high oil prices on the United States, arguing that as the world’s largest oil producer and exporter, America was structurally positioned to benefit when energy prices rose.
