Popular Nigerian businessman and nightlife entrepreneur, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has reportedly lost his bid to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the House of Representatives in Imo State.
The celebrity socialite, who contested for the APC nomination to represent the Orlu/Orsu/Oru East Federal Constituency, reportedly polled just 14 votes out of a total of 2,845 votes cast during the party’s primary election held on Saturday.
According to reports, the primary election was won by the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Canice Moore Nwachukwu Omeogo, who secured the party’s ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Cubana Chief Priest had earlier declared his political ambition in 2026, generating widespread reactions online due to his popularity in the entertainment and hospitality industry. His entrance into politics was seen by many supporters as a major step from celebrity influence into public service.
Before the primary election, the businessman actively campaigned across parts of Imo State and also aligned himself with several APC political movements, including support structures linked to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
However, the outcome of the primary came as a surprise to many social media users after reports emerged that the celebrity candidate secured only 14 votes despite his large online following and public visibility.
Following the election result, reactions flooded social media platforms, with supporters and critics debating the influence of celebrity status in Nigerian politics.
Reacting to the outcome, Cubana Chief Priest reportedly accepted the result and stated that the will of God should prevail. He also hinted at disappointment with some political allies involved in the process.
