Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have successfully rescued a three-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped by a commercial motorcyclist who had been regularly assigned to take her to school each day.
According to a police statement, the suspect, identified as Kelvin Ogaga, allegedly abducted the child and contacted her family demanding a ransom of five hundred thousand naira.
Acting on reliable intelligence, police operatives tracked down and raided the suspect’s hideout in Ughelli, where they found the child safe and unharmed.
Officers also recovered one hundred and twenty-seven thousand naira believed to be part of the ransom payment, along with valuables allegedly bought with proceeds from the crime and the motorcycle used in carrying out the abduction.
In a separate development, the Police Buffalo Team recovered a Beretta pistol and an iPhone that had been abandoned by a fleeing suspect during a stop-and-search patrol in the Power Line area near Bonsaac.
In yet another operation, officers from the Ozoro Division arrested a suspected cultist, Michael Monday, while conducting a routine township patrol.
A search of his bag led to the discovery of a locally made single-barrel gun and one live cartridge. Preliminary investigations have linked the suspect to the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as the Aro Bagger.
