EDITORIAL: Where Is The Programme?

1778287509 Bola Tinubu

Things are moving fast on the political front. However, the key ingredient is still lost in transit, as in where is the best.

With the republic no longer at ease either at home or abroad, a convincing alternative prospectus is needed to ignite optimism in a hard-pressed people disenchanted with the reality of three years of renewed despair which has been exposed as a flight from reality.

A much needed alternative perspective must focus on a drive to end poverty, concentrate on job creation, how to upscale the informal sector and modernize agriculture by transiting subsistence farmers into commercial farming.

The programme must be presented in succinct form reminiscent of the programme of the Unity Party of Nigeria which was codified into four cardinal principles which induced mass appeal and acceptance.

Same thing goes for MKO Abiola’s “Farewell To Poverty”. The alternative must be presented as an appeal to self-preservation.
