Vandefan Gemade, the son of Senator Barnabas Gemade, a former governor of Benue State, has lost his bid to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives primaries.
This was revealed during the declaration of results of the APC primaries by the National Assembly Primary Election Committee.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that aside from being one of the leading supporters of Governor Hyacinth Alia, Senator Gemade is the Chairman of the APC Elders Forum in Benue.
Declaring the results for Benue State on Sunday in Makurdi, the Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Sabiu Mahuta, announced that Livinus Tsar, a close ally of Alia, emerged as the winner of the primary with 28,549 votes.
According to Mahuta, Vandefan Gemade polled 225 votes in the exercise.
He further stated that the incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency, Sesoo Gboko, scored 693 votes, while the member representing Konshisha State Constituency, Cephas Dyako, secured 62 votes.
NAN reports that a total of 14 aspirants participated in the primary election.
