The City Boy Movement has reacted to a viral social media post falsely linked to its patron, Seyi Tinubu.
In a statement issued on Monday, May 11, 2026, and signed by the group’s Deputy Director-General for Communication and Public Affairs, O’tega Ogra, the organisation described the alleged remark as fake, malicious, and aimed at stirring unnecessary controversy.
The response followed a publication shared on Facebook by a user identified as Albab Abdullahi, who claimed that Seyi made a controversial statement concerning his father’s reported 2027 political ambition.
The post alleged that Seyi said: “There is nothing that can stop my father from completing his eight years in power. Not even God is capable.”
However, the City Boy Movement strongly denied the claim, insisting that the statement was completely fabricated and designed to mislead the public while creating religious tension.
According to the group, the president’s son never made such comments “at any time, in any place, through any channel or under any circumstance whatsoever.”
The statement further described Seyi Tinubu as a devoted man of faith who believes that authority and power come solely from God.
“Barr. Seyi Tinubu is a man of faith who holds deep reverence for Almighty God. He believes firmly that all power belongs to God alone, and that no man can attain, retain or exercise authority except by the grace, mercy and permission of the Almighty,” part of the statement read.
