Father and Son Arrested as Ogun Police Recover Pistol, Dane Gun From Their Home

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a father and his son after security operatives reportedly recovered a pistol and a Dane gun from their residence during a police operation in the state.

The suspects, identified as Fatai Adegbola and his son, Waliu Adegbola, were apprehended following an investigation linked to the alleged theft of a Tecno Android phone valued at about ₦180,000.

According to reports, officers attached to the Afon Division launched an investigation after receiving a complaint about the stolen device. Through intelligence gathering and tracking efforts, the police were able to trace the phone to the suspects’ residence.

During a search of the house, which was reportedly conducted with a valid search warrant, operatives allegedly discovered one locally made pistol and a Dane gun hidden inside the building.

Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Omolola Odutola, said the arrest formed part of ongoing efforts by the command to combat criminal activities and illegal possession of firearms across the state.

Police authorities disclosed that investigations are ongoing to determine how the suspects obtained the weapons and whether they are connected to other criminal activities within the area.

The command further stated that the suspects remain in police custody and will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.

In a related development, the police also recovered additional locally fabricated weapons during separate security operations in different parts of Ogun State, as the command continues its crackdown on crime and unlawful possession of firearms.
