Terrifying moment as priest faints and falls into grave during burial ceremony

Save for a single passerby who briefly tried to help before leaving, more than a dozen people passed by as he struggled to escape.

A struggle ensues before the 40-year-old falls motionless, flat on his back with his hand above his head.

According to the New York Post, it took 18 minutes for one of the passers-by to call 911 and report the incident.

Authorities later confirmed that he was found “pinned at the bottom of the escalator,” with a report noting that his clothing was “tightly lodged within the escalator steps.”

It took more than 20 minutes before a staff member reportedly arrived and activated the emergency stop button.

McCluskey had no pulse by the time medics arrived, and his clothes were pulled so tight into the escalator that his throat was constricted.

Paramedics administered CPR at the scene before McClusky was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital.

He remained in a coma for 10 days before passing away on March 9 as a result of his injuries.

In a heartbreaking tribute, his father described him as a devoted parent, saying: “Above all, he loved being father to his two sons, Shayne and Steven, who meant the world to him.”
