Fulani man and herder abducted as suspected bandits launch fresh attack in Kogi

A Fulani man and one of his herders have been reportedly kidnapped as suspected bandits launched a fresh attack in Kogi State.…....

The attack was carried out at about 9:00 p.m. on May 20, 2026 at Odo-Eri community in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

According to reports, the attackers kidnapped a Fulani man identified as Bube along with one of his cattle rearers during the operation.

The latest attack has further heightened tension across Yagba West, coming less than 48 hours after an intelligence alert warned of a possible security threat in the area.

On May 18, armed bandits were seen moving from the Babanla Forest in neighbouring Kwara State into parts of Yagba West through the Okoloke bush path, sparking concern among residents of nearby communities.

 

Residents of Ejiba, Odo-Eri, Egbe and surrounding areas have since been advised to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements to security agencies.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had yet to issue an official statement on the attack, while the status of efforts to track down and rescue the abducted victims remained unclear.
