A Nigerian lady has gone viral on social media after lamenting over the sudden increase in her house rent by her landlord in Asaba, Delta State.
The visibly emotional woman revealed that she had been comfortably paying N700,000 annually for her one-bedroom apartment before things unexpectedly changed.
According to her, the landlord added N650,000 to the rent and immediately served her a quit notice, leaving her confused and frustrated.
In her words, “I was paying N700,000 for a one-bedroom apartment in Asaba, but my landlord gave me quick notice after adding N650,000 to my rent.”
She expressed disappointment over the situation, stating that the sharp increase has made it difficult for her to find affordable accommodation.
The lady’s outcry has since sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians relating to the struggles of dealing with rising rent prices and sudden eviction notices.
While some social media users sympathized with her and criticized the landlord’s decision, others pointed out that the current economic hardship and inflation are affecting both tenants and property owners alike.
The incident has further fueled discussions about the increasing cost of housing and the challenges many Nigerians now face in securing affordable apartments.
