Media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has revealed that he started smoking as early as JSS 3 and continued the habit for 13 years.
Speaking on an episode of Mentality with Ebuka focused on addiction, Ebuka disclosed that his smoking became so excessive during his university days that he was consuming about two packs of cigarettes daily.
“But I started smoking in JSS 3, and I smoked for 13 years. In university, I was doing about two packs a day,” he said during the conversation with Banky W and Aproko Doctor.
The episode explored different forms of addiction including drug abuse, betting, pornography, and the reasons many people use to justify unhealthy habits. According to Aproko Doctor, many addictions stem from the human desire to avoid pain and chase pleasure.
Ebuka also spoke about how betting is often defended by people hoping to make quick money, while Banky W admitted he once turned to parnography in an attempt to battle promiscuity.
The discussion further touched on the rise of drug abuse in Nigeria and how financial interests continue to make the problem difficult to tackle.
