Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has called for a major rebranding of the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Speaking during an interview yesterday, the aspiring National Chairman stressed that the party needs a new communication strategy that speaks directly to the concerns of the masses.
According to him, the NPP must rebuild trust among voters and strengthen its connection with grassroots supporters across the country.
“We need to rebrand the NPP with tailored messaging that resonates with the masses,” Mr. Boadu stated, adding that political success depends on how well a party understands and responds to the needs of the people.
He also emphasised that leadership positions within the party should be held by experienced individuals who understand the party’s internal structures and electoral dynamics.
According to him, leadership should not be based on popularity alone but on competence, experience, and a proven ability to deliver results.
“Voters must understand that leadership is not about popularity, but about experience and proven capacity,” he said during the interview on Asaase radio.
He further argued that the position of National Chairman requires a seasoned leader who can unite the party and prepare it for victory in the next elections.

“The National Chairman position is not for starters, it’s for experienced and seasoned leaders,” he added.
The former General Secretary has consistently maintained that the NPP needs tested leadership to rebuild after its defeat in the 2024 elections.
He has already declared his intention to contest for the National Chairmanship position when nominations officially open.
John Boadu has served the New Patriotic Party in several roles over the past three decades, including National Organiser and General Secretary.
He believes his experience and deep understanding of the party place him in a strong position to lead the NPP into the future.
