Members of the All Progressives Congress who secured re-election tickets during the Kaduna State House of Assembly primaries have pledged renewed commitment to development, unity and effective representation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The member representing Zonkwa Constituency, Emmanuel Kantiok, emerged victorious with 549 votes ahead of Jothsm Ayina and Lawrence Bakam.
Speaking after the exercise on Wednesday, Kantiok described his victory as an endorsement of his performance and a renewed mandate from his constituents.
He thanked party leaders, supporters and constituents for their continued confidence in him and promised to consolidate on his achievements if re-elected.
Kantiok said: “As Chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary for eight years, virtually all bills passed by the Assembly went through my committee.
“Beyond legislative duties, we have facilitated projects in education, healthcare, and other sectors.”
The lawmaker listed projects facilitated across communities including Kamantan, Madakiya, Anfana and Ikulu.
According to him, the interventions included classroom construction and renovation, staff rooms, toilets, fencing and school furniture.
He also disclosed that primary healthcare centres across the constituency’s five wards had benefited from upgrades alongside scholarship and empowerment programmes.
On security, Kantiok said the Assembly had continued working with relevant agencies to strengthen safety across Kaduna State.
Similarly, the member representing Zango Constituency, Sam Kambai, secured victory with 414 votes against Elizabeth Barnabas.
Kambai thanked APC members and constituents for what he described as another opportunity to serve.
He said: “I want to sincerely thank the APC family and my constituents for giving me another opportunity to continue serving.”
The lawmaker described his emergence as a call for greater responsibility and pledged stronger lobbying for development projects.
Kambai revealed that he sponsored a bill seeking the establishment of a College of Agriculture Technology, which has already passed second reading and awaits gubernatorial assent.
He also highlighted road construction and school renovation projects facilitated during his tenure, including a one-kilometre road in Tanji and interventions in LEA Primary Schools in Takau and Kamasa.
The lawmaker further appealed for unity within the APC ahead of future elections.
“We must unite and move forward together for the benefit of our people,” he said.
Kambai also expressed confidence in the APC’s future electoral prospects under President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani.
Meanwhile, the member representing Jema’a Constituency, Ali Kalat, emerged as the APC consensus candidate after other aspirants stepped down in support of his candidature.
Kalat described the development as a reflection of confidence in his leadership and legislative performance.
He said: “I believe my colleagues and supporters felt that returning to the Assembly is not just about occupying a seat, but about attracting more dividends of democracy to our people.”
The lawmaker promised to sustain an inclusive leadership style anchored on consultation and accessibility.
“I have always maintained an open-door policy, and going forward, we will continue to carry everyone along.
“I deeply appreciate the support and confidence they have shown in me,” he stated.
Kalat also pledged to intensify efforts toward attracting more development projects, especially road infrastructure.
“One of the projects I will continue to pursue is the road construction initiative.
“I will keep lobbying and working with relevant authorities to ensure that such projects are completed for the benefit of our people,” he added.
Also reacting to the primaries, former aspirant for the Zango/Jaba Federal Constituency seat, Sylvester Anthony, popularly known as Brando, described the exercise as peaceful and transparent.
He commended party members for their conduct throughout the process.
