Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State has imposed a curfew on two wards following incessant clashes between rival groups of thugs, locally known as Yan Daba.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the clashes among the thugs led to attacks on innocent residents of the wards.
This was disclosed in a statement issued to journalists by the council’s Information Officer, Tasi’u Yahaya-Dadinduniya, on Monday.
Yahaya-Dadinduniya quoted the council Chairman, Alhaji Salisu Usman-Masu, announcing the curfew after an emergency meeting with stakeholders over the repeated clashes in the area.
According to him, the curfew restricts movement between 8pm and 6am daily in Fagge D1 and Fagge D2 wards.
The statement said: “The Fagge Local Government Assembly, under the leadership of Chairman, Alhaji Salisu Usman-Masu, has imposed a curfew on Fagge D1 and Fagge D2 wards from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
“The measure follows recent clashes among youths in the area that have resulted in loss of lives.”
