Kano Rep Doguwa Denies Drug Allegation, Says Blue Tongue Came From Candy

A member of the House of Representatives from Kano State, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has dismissed allegations that he was taking hard substances during a recent political gathering after a viral video showed a noticeable blue colouration on his tongue.

The lawmaker, who came under heavy criticism on social media during the party primaries, explained that the blue stain was caused by a sweet candy he had taken to soothe his throat during the meeting.

According to Doguwa, “It is the work of the devil and my political enemies who claimed I was taking substances. What was in my mouth was sweet blue candy.”

He further explained that he had asked an aide to buy him a throat sweet because his voice was strained during the event, but the aide returned with a different brand of candy.

“I sent a boy to get me a tom-tom because my voice was broken at the meeting, so the boy I sent bought me a different type. After taking it, it stuck to my tongue. Now, people are looking at me as if I had taken drugs, even though I have never taken drugs in my life,” he said.

The viral clip had sparked widespread reactions online, with many social media users questioning the unusual blue appearance on the lawmaker’s tongue and speculating about possible substance use.

However, Doguwa insisted that the claims were false and politically motivated, maintaining that the blue colour came solely from the candy he consumed during the meeting.
