A primary school teacher in Kano State, Abubakar Musa, has donated his entire monthly salary of N30,000 to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
This unusual gesture was presented as a contribution to support the state government’s ongoing efforts to revitalize the education sector.
Musa described the funds as ‘a personal token of appreciation to the governor for the massive improvements in the education sector’ that have been witnessed since the inception of the current administration.
The donation took place during an event where Governor Yusuf was being honored by various groups for his developmental strides. The atmosphere turned emotional as the Governor received the cash donation.
Moved by the teacher’s sacrifice, Governor Yusuf was seen in tears, describing the act as both humbling and motivating for his team.
In a rare show of respect for a civil servant, the Governor and the entire State Executive Council rose to give Musa a standing ovation, acknowledging that such a selfless act from a person with a modest income carries more weight than any high-profile award.
A major pillar of this administration’s popularity remains its commitment to the welfare of workers and retirees. Governor Yusuf had previously vowed to eliminate the backlog of pension and gratuity arrears that have plagued the state for years.
During the recent Workers’ Day celebrations, the Governor revealed that his administration has successfully cleared N32 billion out of the N48 billion debt inherited from previous governments.
By releasing these funds in four distinct tranches, the government has provided much-needed relief to senior citizens who served the state for 35 years but were neglected by past leaders.
