The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has announced a major resolution to a long-standing dispute between the Federal Government and Bi-Courtney Limited, bringing an end to a conflict that has lasted for nearly two decades........…

Keyamo made the disclosure through a post on .... his official X account, following the approval of a memorandum by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu aimed at formally settling the decades-old disagreement with the private aviation operator.

According to the minister, sustained negotiations .... between both parties had been ongoing for over a year, with several rounds of discussions ultimately leading to a mutually acceptable agreement.

He noted that the breakthrough marks the conclusion of one of the most protracted legal and contractual disputes in Nigeria’s aviation sector.

Bi-Courtney Limited, a private company involved in airport infrastructure development, had been engaged in a prolonged legal and operational tussle with the Federal Government over the management and ownership structure of airport facilities.

The dispute, which spanned more than twenty years, had generated multiple court cases and enforcement challenges over the years.

Keyamo stated that the recent agreement was made possible through coordinated efforts aimed at restoring stability and improving investor confidence in the aviation sector.

He described the resolution as a significant step toward clearing long-standing bottlenecks that had hindered cooperation between the government and private sector operators.

As part of the settlement terms, Bi-Courtney Limited reportedly agreed to waive a judgment debt amounting to approximately one hundred and thirty-two billion naira, which had previously been awarded against the Federal Government.

The concession was described as a major development in easing financial and legal tensions between both parties.

In addition, the company handed over an old domestic terminal facility to the Federal Government.

The terminal had been a subject of contention following earlier court rulings, including a Supreme Court decision that had ordered its transfer to Bi-Courtney Limited.

On its part, the Federal Government returned an unfinished hotel and conference complex to Bi-Courtney Limited as part of the broader settlement arrangement. The agreement also included the allocation of additional land to the company to support future development projects.

Keyamo emphasized that the resolution reflects a broader commitment by the current administration to address legacy disputes through dialogue and structured negotiation rather than prolonged litigation.

He added that the outcome is expected to pave the way for improved collaboration in Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure development.…READ / MORE…
