Sanusi Bature, spokesperson to Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has disclosed fresh details about alleged discussions involving Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over a possible defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).…....
Bature made the revelation during an interview on Arise News while speaking about the political events that unfolded before Kwankwaso eventually left the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). According to him, Governor Yusuf personally approached President Tinubu on behalf of his political leader to facilitate direct talks regarding the proposed move to the APC.
Recounting the development, Bature said, “The governor went to the president and told him that ‘my boss’ wants to speak to you directly on the issue of defection to APC. So president Tinubu agrees to that.”
The Kano governor’s spokesman explained that the governor acted as an intermediary at the early stage of the discussions, following requests from Kwankwaso. He suggested that the move demonstrated the level of communication and political understanding that existed among the key actors involved at the time.
