The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APC) in Lagos State, Laja Adeoye, has said residents of the state deserve better leadership, fresh ideas and a new style of governance.…....
Adeoye stated this on Wednesday while formally declaring his governorship ambition at Ward F5, Ejigbo, in the Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area of the state.
The former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant said Lagos residents had experienced the same pattern of governance for several years and were now demanding a change.
Speaking at the declaration, Adeoye said the people of Lagos were yearning for fresh leadership ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
According to him, the state needs a governor who understands the challenges of the people and is prepared to run an accountable and people-oriented administration.
“The truth is that Lagos residents are tired. They have seen the ideas and style of governance since 1999, and they are yearning for something new,” he said.
“The people want fresh ideas, fresh faces, fresh leadership and a fresh governor. That is what I represent. That is why I have come out to serve. I promise the good people of Lagos State that I will be a good and responsible leader.”
Adeoye promised that, if elected, his administration would place the welfare of residents at the centre of governance.
He said Lagos needed leadership that would listen to the people, respond to their needs and deliver policies that would improve their standard of living.
The governorship hopeful expressed excitement over the turnout of leaders and members of both the PDP and APM at the event.
Adeoye described himself as a member of the community, saying the warm reception he received showed that residents identified with his ambition.
He added that many of the people were excited because, according to him, one of their own had stepped forward to contest the governorship election.
The APM candidate said his declaration was not merely a personal ambition but a call to service and a response to the desire of Lagos residents for a different kind of leadership.
Adeoye, who was formerly aligned with the Governor Seyi Makinde-backed faction of the PDP before moving to the APM, said the alliance between the PDP faction and the APM became necessary due to unresolved internal disputes within the PDP.
He also alleged that there were efforts to weaken opposition politics at the national level, saying the coalition was formed to provide a viable alternative for Lagos residents.
According to him, all PDP aspirants under the Makinde-backed faction would contest the 2027 elections on the platform of the APM.
Adeoye said the arrangement would help strengthen opposition forces in Lagos and give the people a credible platform through which they could demand better governance.
The governorship candidate urged leaders and members of the coalition to remain united as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
He described the task of defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos as a collective responsibility.
Adeoye said the election remained winnable if members of the coalition stayed focused and continued to mobilise at the grassroots.
