Operatives of the Kebbi State Hisbah Board have arrested a man who was allegedly caught hiding inside a “Ghana Must-Go” bag at the residence of a married woman in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi.
The arrest was confirmed on Tuesday by the Director of Sharia of the Hisbah Board, Sirajo Kamba, who disclosed that residents alerted the agency after noticing the man entering the woman’s home late at night.
According to Kamba, the incident occurred around 12:15am on Monday, when concerned neighbours suspected activities they believed violated Islamic principles and promptly informed Hisbah officials.
Following the report, officers were deployed to the residence to carry out an investigation. However, the married woman initially denied that anyone else was inside the house when officers requested to conduct a search.
Kamba explained that the woman later granted permission for a thorough search of the building, leading to the discovery of the suspect concealed inside a large “Ghana Must-Go” bag.
Preliminary investigations reportedly revealed that the man and the woman were involved in an alleged romantic relationship.
The Hisbah official stated that both suspects admitted to the allegation during interrogation and would be charged to court for prosecution under Islamic law.
