A family has been left struggling after a father was abandoned by his wife and forced to raise their young children alone.

Hussein Maganga narrated his painful experience after his second wife packed her bags and left in the middle of the night, leaving behind five young children.

The 64-year-old man said his wife left after he warned her against drinking alcohol. At the time, they were approaching their sixth wedding anniversary.

“Whenever two people get married, they hope to stay together until death separates them. Unfortunately, my second wife left me after I warned her against drinking alcohol. She left at night while I was asleep. We were almost celebrating our sixth anniversary,” he said.

Maganga noted that all five children are from the same woman, although only four currently live with him. He added that education has become a challenge because not all of the children are attending school.

The father of five also revealed that after his wife left, tragedy struck again when their house caught fire, destroying their belongings and making life even more difficult.

“It has been difficult to replace the things that were destroyed in the fire. Buying school uniforms and stationery again is expensive, and I do not have that kind of money. The children also need food,” he said.

To survive and provide for his family, Maganga turned to selling water in jerricans. He uses a bicycle to transport the water from his home to the market, where he earns a small income.

“From this hustle, I get money to cater for my family’s needs. It is not much, but at least it helps us survive,” he added.

Netizens react to Hussein Maganga’s plight

Many people sympathised with Maganga, describing him as a hardworking father facing difficult circumstances. Social media users flooded the comment section with reactions.
