AMG Goes Electric: Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé, marking AMG’s entry into the dedicated high-performance EV space. Built on the new AMG.EA platform, the electric four-door sports car combines high output figures, advanced battery technology and active aerodynamics while attempting to retain the character associated with AMG’s V8-powered models through simulated sound and driving effects.

Triple-Motor Powertrain: The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé uses three axial-flux electric motors co-developed with British firm YASA. Two motors are mounted on the rear axle and one at the front. The GT 63 produces up to 1,169hp, while the GT 55 develops 816hp. Mercedes-AMG claims the GT 63 can accelerate from 0-100kph in 2.1 seconds and reach 200kph in 6.4 seconds, with a top speed of 300kph when fitted with the optional Driver’s Package.

Charging In Minutes: The AMG GT 4-Door Coupé features an 800V electrical architecture and a newly developed AMG High Performance Electric Battery. The pack uses 2,660 cylindrical NCMA cells with direct oil cooling for each cell to maintain thermal stability during repeated hard driving. Mercedes-AMG says the EV supports DC fast charging speeds of up to 600kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 11 minutes under ideal conditions.

700km Claimed Range: Mercedes-AMG claims more than 460km of WLTP range can be added in 10 minutes of charging. The GT 55 offers a claimed WLTP range of up to 700km, while the GT 63 delivers up to 696km. The company says the battery and cooling system are designed to provide sustained performance during repeated acceleration runs and extended track driving without major thermal limitations affecting power delivery.

Fake V8 Returns: Despite being fully electric, the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé includes systems designed to recreate the feel of a petrol-powered AMG car. The AMG FORCE S+ mode uses more than 1,600 audio samples to generate a simulated V8 soundtrack in real time. The car also gets virtual gearshift effects, haptic shift interruptions through the steering-wheel paddles and a rev-style tachometer display intended to mimic a traditional AMG driving experience.

New Suspension Tech: The AMG GT 4-Door Coupé comes with AMG Active Ride Control suspension featuring hydraulically interconnected dampers and semi-active roll stabilisation. Rear-axle steering provides up to six degrees of movement to improve manoeuvrability at lower speeds and stability at higher speeds. The AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system works with torque vectoring to distribute power between all four wheels and individually across the rear axle for improved traction and handling.

Aero Tricks Revealed: Mercedes-AMG has equipped the GT 4-Door Coupé with active aerodynamic systems, including underbody Venturi-flow elements, an active rear diffuser and a deployable rear spoiler that adjusts according to speed and driving conditions. The company says these systems improve downforce, efficiency and cornering stability. Despite its nearly 5.1-metre length, the electric four-door coupé achieves a drag coefficient of 0.22 Cd.

Inspired By Concepts: The AMG GT 4-Door Coupé adopts a low-slung fastback silhouette with a long wheelbase, wide stance and muscular rear design. The front section features an illuminated AMG grille with vertical slats, LED headlamps and star-shaped daytime running lights. At the rear, the car gets six circular turbine-style LED tail-lamps and aerodynamic bodywork inspired by the earlier Vision AMG and GT XX concept models.

Triple-Screen Cabin: Inside, the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé gets a driver-focused cabin with a large glass display panel integrating a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen angled towards the driver. AMG-specific graphics, telemetry displays and AI-powered MBUX functions are included. The centre console houses three rotary controls called the AMG Race Control Unit for adjusting traction, agility and driving response settings.

Production Starts Soon: Mercedes-AMG will begin production of the GT 4-Door Coupé in summer 2026 at the Mercedes-Benz Sindelfingen Plant facility. The axial-flux motors will be produced at the Mercedes-Benz Berlin-Marienfelde Plant using new manufacturing processes and AI-supported production systems. Mercedes-Benz positions the model as a major step in AMG’s transition towards high-performance electric vehicles.
