The strong topline performance significantly boosted profitability and operating leverage.

Earnings per share (EPS) climbed 166 per cent to N16.95, representing nearly 30 per cent of the company’s full-year 2025 EPS. If sustained, analysts project that annualised EPS could reach about N67.80 in 2026—roughly 30 per cent higher than last year’s figure.

Chief Executive Officer, Karl Toriola, attributed the strong showing to disciplined cost management and operating efficiency.

A notable contributor to profitability was a N33.3 billion net foreign exchange gain, compared to a N5.5 billion loss in the corresponding period of 2025.

Finance costs remained largely flat, rising marginally by 0.98 per cent, aided by a 25 per cent reduction in total borrowings to N315 billion following a N154 billion repayment.

Data revenue surged by 56.2 per cent, supported by a 9.5 per cent rise in active data users, a 5.5 percentage point increase in smartphone penetration to 66.2 per cent, and higher usage.

Data traffic rose 22.9 per cent, while average usage per subscriber increased 12.3 per cent to 14.3GB. Voice revenue grew 22.5 per cent, driven by subscriber growth and targeted customer value management.
