Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration following a fresh United Nations warning on food insecurity in Nigeria.
Atiku said the latest alarm by the UN shows that Nigeria has become a hunger hotspot under the current government.
He accused the Tinubu administration of being disconnected from the hardship facing ordinary Nigerians, especially as millions continue to struggle with rising food prices, poverty and worsening cost of living.
According to Atiku, the hunger crisis reflects the failure of government policies to protect vulnerable citizens and strengthen food security across the country.
The former Vice President said Nigerians are facing severe economic pressure, with many households unable to afford basic meals due to inflation and poor purchasing power.
The warning comes amid growing concerns from international organisations over acute food insecurity in Nigeria, especially in areas affected by poverty, insecurity, displacement and high food prices.
Atiku urged the government to take urgent steps to address the crisis, warning that hunger and poverty must not be normalised in the country.
