Senate President Godswill Akpabio has sparked outrage online after praising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over security improvements in Nigeria despite ongoing kidnappings and insecurity across parts of the country.
Akpabio made the remarks during a visit to President Tinubu in Lagos for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, where he commended the administration’s handling of security challenges.
According to him:
“Tinubu has done very well. There’s no part of Nigeria today that you will have the flag of any insurgent, whether Bǒko har&m being hoisted. Organized b°mb bl&$t everywhere have been brought to an end.”
His statement quickly triggered criticism online, especially following recent reports of mass abductions involving schoolchildren and teachers in Borno State and Oyo State.
The criticism comes amid reports that 42 pupils were abducted from schools in Askira/Uba area of Borno State, while another 39 students and seven teachers were kidnapped from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Reports also indicated that a disturbing video allegedly showing the beheading of one of the abducted teachers circulated online, intensifying public anger and fear as rescue efforts continue.
