A man nominated to run for the position of Executive Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area in Enugu State has been captured in a video allegedly subjecting a woman, believed to be his wife, to domestic violence.
The individual, identified as Engineer Mike Ogbuekwe the All Progressives Congress’s flagbearer for the Nkanu East LGA chairmanship was seen in the footage ordering that the woman and her surroundings be recorded on video, an act she strongly objected to.
When she resisted being filmed, the situation reportedly turned violent.
According to the woman’s account in the video, she was beaten by five men who had been brought to the residence by her husband.
Ogbuekwe was also seen seizing her mobile phone and handing it over to one of the men present.
The woman could be heard crying out about the assault as the incident unfolded.
The aspiring local government chairman was seen in the video dressed casually in a torn top and shorts, while a luxury SUV and a Toyota Hilux were visible parked within the compound a stark contrast to the chaotic scene playing out inside.
