The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has urged Nigerian children to remain committed to patriotism, learning and moral values as the country marked the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.
In a statement by the agency’s Deputy Director of Communications and Media, Paul Odenyi, while commemorating the annual event, the NOA boss described children as the foundation of Nigeria’s future and called on stakeholders to prioritise their welfare, education and protection.
According to the Director-General, Children’s Day serves as a reminder of the shared responsibility of government, parents, teachers, religious bodies and the wider society in shaping the future of Nigerian children.

“The future of our nation depends greatly on the values, education and opportunities we provide for our children today. Every child deserves access to quality education, safety, healthcare, guidance and a conducive environment to grow into responsible citizens,” he said.
The NOA DG encouraged children across the country to stay away from social vices including crime, cultism, cybercrime, drug abuse and violence.
He advised them to instead embrace hard work, creativity, integrity and national unity in preparation for future leadership roles.
The agency also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting civic responsibility, patriotism and national consciousness through public enlightenment campaigns targeted at schools and communities nationwide.
The statement further commended parents, teachers, caregivers and development partners for their continued sacrifices in raising children amid prevailing economic challenges.
“As we celebrate our children today, let us all renew our commitment to building a Nigeria where every child can dream, thrive and succeed regardless of background, ethnicity or religion,” the statement added.
