The Nigerian Railway Corporation has condemned the repeated attacks on its train operations along the Abuja–Kaduna rail corridor, describing the incidents as dangerous and a threat to national infrastructure.

In a statement signed by the NRC Chief Public Relations Officer, Callitus Unyimadu, the Corporation said the latest attack occurred around Kilometer 177, where unknown persons reportedly pelted stones at a moving train, damaging the windscreen of the leading locomotive.

The NRC expressed deep concern that similar incidents have been recorded in more than six locations within the past two weeks, including areas in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. It warned that the trend poses serious risks to passengers, railway personnel, and critical railway infrastructure.

The Corporation noted that these acts not only endanger lives but also constitute economic sabotage capable of disrupting transportation services and undermining government investment in the railway sector.

Despite the challenges, the NRC said train operations have continued under strict safety measures and heightened vigilance by railway staff, who remain committed to ensuring passengers reach their destinations safely.

The Corporation also acknowledged the efforts of security agencies working to safeguard railway corridors and protect passengers.

It added that it is collaborating with security operatives, community leaders, and other stakeholders to strengthen surveillance, identify those responsible, and bring them to justice.

The NRC is calling on residents and communities along railway corridors to support the protection of railway infrastructure by reporting suspicious activities and discouraging acts of vandalism.

The Corporation reassured the public of its commitment to maintaining safe, secure, and efficient train services across the country.See Full Details. .
