The Obidient Movement has appealed to members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to rally behind Peter Obi and ensure he secures the party’s presidential ticket at today’s primary election.

The movement’s National Coordinator, Yunusa Tanko, issued a statement calling on both Obidient Movement members and NDC delegates to approach the exercise with unity, discipline, maturity, and a shared sense of purpose.

He stressed that the group’s decision to align with the NDC was deliberate and strategic, with the singular goal of placing Peter Obi on the ballot for the 2027 general elections.

Tanko warned members against allowing personal ambitions to overshadow the collective mission, describing that mission as rescuing Nigeria through principled, people-centered leadership built on character, competence, and compassion.

He acknowledged that in any democratic contest, not everyone can emerge victorious, and urged all aspirants to accept outcomes gracefully and demonstrate good sportsmanship regardless of the results.

He further appealed to contestants to channel any grievances or concerns through the party’s internal dispute resolution mechanisms rather than resorting to litigation, which he said would be detrimental to the unity the movement has carefully cultivated.

Tanko also cautioned that political opponents are closely monitoring the NDC for any signs of internal discord that could be exploited.

Looking beyond today’s primaries, Tanko called on members to quickly close ranks and redirect their energy toward the broader 2027 presidential campaign, expressing the movement’s vision of building a Nigeria where opportunity is not determined by privilege or connections what he described as a new Nigeria where the child of nobody can become somebody without knowing anybody.
